Privacy

This is a personal portfolio site. It has no accounts, forms, comments or advertising, and it does not ask you for personal information. This page explains the few services that handle visitor data when you use it.

Visit statistics

I use GoatCounter, a privacy-focused analytics service, to see how many people visit each page, which sites send visitors here, and which browsers and countries they come from. GoatCounter records the page visited, the referring site, the browser and operating system, the screen width, the language and the country. According to GoatCounter, it does not use cookies, does not store IP addresses, and does not follow visitors across other websites. I cannot see who you are. You can read GoatCounter’s privacy policy for the details.

Fonts

The site’s typeface, Source Sans Pro, is loaded from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests the font from Google’s servers, and Google receives your IP address and basic browser information as part of that request. See Google’s privacy policy.

Hosting

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may log technical information, such as IP addresses, when it delivers pages to you. See GitHub’s privacy statement.

Your browser

If you switch between light and dark mode, the site saves your choice in your browser’s local storage so it can remember it on your next visit. It stays on your device, and I do not receive it. You can clear it at any time in your browser settings.

Links to other sites

The site links to LinkedIn, GitHub, BoomTown Home Services and, on the Bookshelf, to Amazon search pages for the books I list. I do not earn money from those links. Each of those sites has its own privacy practices, which I do not control.

Email

If you email me, I receive your address and your message, and I use them only to reply. You can reach me at piercewallar@gmail.com.

Changes

If I add a service that handles visitor data, I will update this page and change the date at the top.
